Perth truly is one of the best places in the world for live music right now while everyone else is in lockdown (and to tell you a secret, it’s been that way before COVID-19!). If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, here’s the definitive gig guide presented by BOOM’s Backyard, with the best events to check out for a fun night in Perth.

Friday: For all the Leederville locals out there, check out Last Lions (pictured) at the YMCA HQ, supported by Lavelle, Muscle Club, and Mitch Santiago. Last Lions had to cancel their last national tour as a result of COVID-19, but with Perth music venues reopening they’ve taken the opportunity to hit the west coast, and if they’re sold out show at the Aardvark last week was any indication, it’s going to be a rager!

Supporting them will be Rockingham rapper Levelle, indie rock quartet Muscle Club, and the 13 year old guitar prodigy Mitch Santiago.

Also this Friday, Grievous Bodily calm are celebrating their launch of their new single Mosaic down at the new Perth venue Barbes. They’ll be supported by Rabbit Island and DJ Sara T on the night, doors open at 8PM. Highly recommended for anyone looking for some electronic grooves on a Friday night.

Saturday: If you’re looking for something heavy to keep the party going all weekend, Among Them are playing at Amps, and they’ll be joined by House of Judgement, FEVERMIND, Marceline, and Stonehands. For the best of Heavy Metal & Emocore in Perth, this is an star line-up.

Maybe you need something heavy, but you’re more into your wubs than guitars, Filth is putting on another dubstep and Drum & Bass night down at The Court. Kicking off at 3PM, there’s a massive list of DJ’s playing, including 7inn, BINXX, KATZU, WIGGUM, and that’s only the headliners!

Sunday: If you’re not nursing a massive hangover from all the sick gigs on Friday and Saturday, there’s one more gig to check out if you’re near Fremantle. Mojo’s is putting on a gig with some of the best up and coming talent around. Starting at 5:30PM, you can catch some great indie rock and folk acts like Mirrors at the Arcade, Josh Ellis, Residents’ Club, & Cameron Alexander.

That’s BOOM’s Backyard’s gig guide for this week! Make sure to come back next week to see what live music you can catch next week, and if you want even more info, check out BOOM’s Backyard from 7-10PM every Wednesday evening, only on BOOM Radio, Not Just Noise.
