Private hospitals open doors for COVID-19 cases
The Federal Government has struck a deal to have Australian private hospitals open their doors to patients in an attempt to help ease the pressure for the health care system against the battle of COVID-19.
“It will bring over 105,000 full and part-time hospital staff, including 57,000 of our amazing nurses and midwives,” Health Minister Greg Hunt said.
“It guarantees them their future, but most importantly it brings their resources to the fight against coronavirus COVID-19 in Australia,” he said.
Cairns gunman identified as former soldier
The Cairns gunman shot dead by Police on Sunday morning has been identified as 30-year-old former army serviceman Khrys Alan Vignes.
Vignes was shot dead by police after trying to break into a Palm Cove facility on Sunday morning.
The stand-off lasted more than ten hours with Vignes allegedly ramming a police car and a police officer.
It was later announced that the officer needed to be hospitalised due to serious injuries.
Members of the Ethical Standards Command have flown to Cairns to investigate the siege.
Wesfarmers announce $130 profit after Coles offload
Wesfarmers expects a $130 million pre-tax profit after selling another lot of shares in supermarket giant, Coles.
Currently Wesfarmers own a list of companies including Bunnings, Kmart and Officeworks have announced to the market today that it has sold 5.2 per cent of stake equalling to a worth of 1.06 billion.
The Good News: Rare frog gets free ride home
Coronavirus travel restrictions saw a formerly 5-legged green tree frog stranded far from home following a procedure to remove his ‘extra left arm’.
The restrictions meant the amphibian was stuck at The Frog Hospital in the north Queensland town of Mission Beach, 600km drive from Mackey, where a woman first found the frog with the extra limb.
Luckily, The Frog Hospital received a phone call from someone planning to move to Mackay in coming weeks offering the frog a lift back to his home
