WA records sixth consecutive day of zero COVID19 cases
Western Australia has recorded its sixth consecutive day with no new cases of COVID19 with WA Health Minister Roger Cook stating that the news could lead to preparations to lift some social distancing rules in Western Australia.
“This just shows the measures being put in place and the great work by West Australians… has really paid off and this is a terrific result for everyone in Western Australia,” said the minister.
WA homeless hotel program canned
Perth hotels have abandoned the idea of accomodating the homeless, after more than half the 20 people given accommodation at the start of the scheme chose to leave early.
The program dubbed Hotels With Heart was a pilot program launched at the end of March as a means to help in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic with the intent of being extended beyond the pandemic.
Community Services Minister Simone McGurk said the trial program would not continue “at this stage”, conceding it had seen “mixed results”.
Wild Weather smashes Perth

The Good News: Restaurants and Pubs could be opening sooner than expected
Prime minister Scott Morrison has met with state and territory leaders on Tuesday to discuss restarting the economy under COVID-safe measures.
“We do not have a clear set of rules that would apply to a pub,” Mr Morrison said
“What we do have is a set of recommendations that have been provided to us by the Australian Hotels Association (AHA) and the Restaurant and Catering Industry Association, and that is exactly the thing we are looking for from industry groups.”
With many states numbers are now recording zero cases there may be a chance that restrictions could be lifted sooner than originally thought.
