McGowan: WA should prepare for six months social distancing
West Australia’s COVID-19 curve is flattening, however Premier Mark McGowan says West Australians will need to prepare for up to six months of social distancing.
“We can’t take our foot off the pedal,” Mr McGowan told 6PR’s Gareth Parker.
West Australia’s will need to continue practicing strict social distancing for up to a six month period, to further flatten the COVID19 curve here in Australia.
New WA laws to enforce self-isolation
West Australians who fail to comply with self-isolation directions will find themselves with an electric device installed in their home according to new laws set to be introduced in WA.
The new legislation under the The Emergency Management Amendment (COVID-19 Response) Bill 2020 will be introduced in WA parliament on Tuesday.
Those who remove or interfere with the electronic device without reason will be fined $12,000 or jailed for 12 months.
The legislation will also introduce $1000 on-the-spot fines for people and $5000 fines for businesses who disobey self-isolation restrictions.
Masked couple’s ‘practice’ wedding
As weddings are being frantically postponed across Australia, Perth couple Terezia Cukrov and Anthony Marchesani created a snap-shot wedding photo that will forever resonate with the 2020 Coronavirus era.
On what would have been the couple’s planned wedding day before the coronavirus forced the cancellation, the couple donned surgical facemasks and went ahead with the planned snaps.
Gown designer Jonte Morgan told Perth Now’s Access All Areas “(It was) kind of like a practice wedding, to be a time stamp for (what) would have been their wedding.”
The Good News: Nic Nat’s Insta-chats
West Coast Eagles star Nic Naitanui is letting fans in to his insta-world with a series of live chats.
Naitanui announced that he would go live on his Instagram for 20 minutes a day with a “range of athletes, TV personalities, musicians and some local heroes in the medical space”.
Naitanui’s first guest was Matilda and Chelsea star Samantha Kerr who is in lockdown in London.
