Could 2020 Aid in Changing Australia’s Future?
Kiara Thompson – 8th July 2020
With the start of a new decade came many challenges that have shaped the way in which we view our daily life. From Bushfires, Floods, COVID-19, Black Live Matters Protests and more.
As a nation, we have rallied together to support our fellow Australians through it all and even though it’s not all over yet there are some changes that I personally believe will change the future of Australian life.
Now more than ever we are striving to buy local produce and Australian made products. This, in turn, will help increase the number of jobs leading to a lower homeless population, while also allowing us as a nation to be more self-sufficient if there ever comes a time when we must value our own resources.
In more recent times, we have been able to see the change in the mindset of the way in which we value those around us through peaceful protests making sure that everyone has the right to be treated equally a big factor in this is the Black Lives Matter protests which have been taking the world by storm and making people think about how we can change our behaviours for the future.
This wouldn’t be the first time in which we have as Australians have worked together through protests to change the views of others. A recent example of this would be the 2017 Gay marriage protest which over time turned to parliament for approval.
Overall I believe that 2020 has become a time for self-reflection and change. As we have faced many challenges causing disruptions in everyone’s day to day lives. But is it for the better?
