WA Government announces $1 Billion relief package
Premier Mark McGowan announced yesterday that the state government will be injecting a further $1 billion into the economy, to help aid coronavirus relief for both households and businesses.
The stimulus includes a reduction of energy bills for small businesses with a one off $2500 credit, a moratorium is also in place on households having their water or power switched off if they are experiencing financial hardship. Those who have become unemployed as a result of COVID-19 is now eligible for a concession card.
Public Transport scaled back
WA Transport Minister, Rita Saffioti has announced that all public transport services including trains, buses, and ferries will be reduced, after an 80% reduction in patronage in light of the Coronavirus pandemic.
The restrictions include all buses and trains moving to Saturday timetables throughout the week, the cancellation of the midnight trains on weekends, and ferries will now operate on the winter timetable for the time being.
Star Wars actor dead at 76
Star Wars actor, Andrew Jack has passed away in hospital yesterday as a result of the Coronavirus, aged 76.
His wife Gabrielle Rogers made a statement on social media, saying “Andrew Jack was diagnosed with coronavirus 2 days ago.”
He was in no pain, and he slipped away peacefully knowing that his family were all ‘with’ him.”
Andrew was known for his role as General Ematt in Star Wars: Episode VIII- The Last Jedi, as well as Solo: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: Episode VII- The Force Awakens.
Fast food giant turns corner store
Mcdonalds has begun to sell basic groceries items in addition to it’s fast food menu as of this morning.
“Customers will be able to pick-up two or three litre bottles of full cream or skim milk, as well as packs of English muffins and gourmet bread rolls.” A spokesperson said.
These grocery items will be available through the drive through window of any Mcdonald’s across the country.
