Two dead after fatal crash in Esperance

Two drivers are dead after a ute and a four wheel drive collided in Myrup, just outside of Esperance in WA’s great southern yesterday evening.

The crash happened around 5pm, when the Mitsubishi Triton and Toyota Landcruiser collided head-on on Fisheries Road near Merivale Road.  

Both drivers were killed at the scene, Police are yet to confirm the identities of the drivers. 

COVIDSafe app hits more hurdles

Technology experts are warning users of COVIDSafe to update the app after downloading it, to avoid an issue where it could be disabled.

Experts said the issue would allow someone with a Bluetooth device to crash the app running on phones in busy areas, and disable the handshake feature that shares data for health officials.

The Australian Government released the update for the app yesterday but it will need to be manually installed.

Global Death toll for Coronavirus passes 300,000

According to numbers from Johns Hopkins University this morning, over 300,000 people have died from COVID-19.

The countries with the highest individual tolls include the United States with 85,489, United Kingdom with 33,692 and Italy with 31,368.

More than 4.4 million cases have been recorded so far.

‘Aussie’ Ampol back in business

After Caltex Australia’s annual general meeting yesterday, almost all shareholders of the company approved renaming the company back to AMPOL.

AMPOL 2020 Rebrand

Interim Chief Executive Matt Halliday said other names were looked but AMPOL was one that Australian customers knew and trusted. 

Sites will begin to appear in Sydney and Melbourne, with a national rollout next year.
