COVID restrictions easing
WA Premier Mark McGowan addressed the state at the weekend on the easing of restrictions related to the Coronavirus.
As of May 18, various restrictions caused by COVID-19 will be lifted including merging regions within the state, dining in at pubs, bars and cafes, socialising and sports.
The previous 13 regions within WA have now been combined into 4 with the Perth region merging with the Southwest, Great Southern and the Wheatbelt.
Patron limits of 20 have now been applied to cafes, pub, bars to operate however alcohol must be served with a meal.
Non-work related gatherings have been increased to 20 people with non-contact sports and fitness classes limited of 20 people.
People flock to shopping precincts
Australia’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Brendan Murphy has issued a warning against loitering around shopping centres.
Mother’s Day weekend saw plenty of shoppers heading to the shops and filling up the carparks.
Dr Murphy has said that we are at risk of a second wave of the virus and urged people to be swift in public areas
“If you are going to a shopping centre to buy something, go and buy something, but don’t hang around the shopping centre for half-an-hour mingling for no purpose,”
“Go home. If you are arriving at a shopping centre and you find a crowd at an escalator not wanting to practise social distancing or crowding together, don’t go in. Leave. Come back later, Dr Murphy said.
Mother’s Day Lotto Winners
Two lucky Western Australian lotto players had a great Mother’s Day on Sunday, each pocketing a cool $1.8 million in first division prizes.
The tickets were bought at Kwinana Hub Lottery Centre in Kwinana and Secret Harbour’s The Lucky Charm.
These two first division wins takes WA’s total division one wins to 26 for the year.
