Homes without power as storms batter south west WA

Over 35,000 West Australian homes are without power as of this morning, as Perth’s first major storm of the year hit last night.

Winds reached up to 130kmh in Perth and the South West, and State Emergency Services (SES) had to respond to over 500 requests across the region.

A spokesman from SES said that most of the high priority jobs were located in the Southwest, with areas in Bunbury and Collie taking the brunt of the damage.

Flight prices to plummet

The cost of domestic travel is set to plummet once borders open up, as Qantas looks to stimulate demand once COVID19 travel restrictions are lifted.

Qantas’s budget brand Jetstar is looking to sell one-way flights from Perth to Sydney or Melbourne starting at $89, while flights to Perth from Adelaide are looking to start at $79.

Qantas will be taking online bookings for domestic flights starting from November, but international flights are still uncertain as a result of travel restrictions.

Claremont serial killer arrest footage shown to court

Accused Claremont serial killer Bradley Edwards’ dramatic arrest interview was shown to the court yesterday, on Day 84 of the notorious triple murder trial.

The footage revealed that upon his initial arrest in 2016,  the accused denied any involvement in the rape and sex offences, claiming that he was “not involved in any of it.”

In stands in stark contrast to his later confession to the Huntingdale sex attack as well as the Karrakatta rape.

Mr Edwards still pleads not guilty to the murders of Sarah Spiers, Jane Rimmer and Ciara Glennon, and the trial will continue.

Elon musk welcomes newborn

Elon Musk and his girlfriend Grimes have given birth to their first child on May 4th, and have taken to twitter to reveal the baby’s bizarre name.

A follower on Twitter asked Elon Musk what the newborn’s name was, Musk responded with “X Æ A-12”.

The name was prompted a range of jokes across the internet, with some people saying that they  “cant believe you are going to name your kid a Wi-Fi router password.”

It’s the first child for singer Grimes, and the sixth for Musk.
