Morrison announces further social restrictions
Following the National Cabinet Meeting yesterday, Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced that all public gatherings are to be limited to just two people.
“This is one of the few new measures put into place aimed at stopping the spread of COVID-19,”
“There has been a restriction of 10 people at a gathering in an outdoor area or shopping centre or anything like this… that advice is now strengthened to say that it should be reduced to two persons,” the Prime Minister said.
Premier Mark McGowan Urging West Australians to Self Isolate
WA Premier Mark McGowan has urged West Australians to stick to and practise social distancing measures asking all not following advice to ‘pull their heads in’.
“This is about maintaining our safety during the state of emergency. This is about saving your lives. We want to save your lives. Do the right thing,” Mcgowan said.
For those not complying with quarantine laws, police officers can hand out fines on the spot without having to go through the courts.
WA Man Charged After Allegedly Breaking Quarantine
A Geraldton man is to face court next month after allegedly failing to self-isolate after coming home from New Zealand. The 73-year-old man was told to self-isolate after coming home from New Zealand on Friday.
It was alleged that the man was seen out and about the next day, at the shops and talking to others in his retirement village.
He is set to face court on April 16.
Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson back home in L.A
Hollywood star Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson have returned to their Los Angeles home over the weekend.
The couple, both 63, contracted COVID-19 while Hanks was filming a movie here in Australia earlier this month and after weeks in isolation, they have returned home.
The ‘Forrest Gump’ star has reportedly celebrated his return home wit ha dance in the airport.
