WA hospitals filling as Aust deaths rise
The COVID-19 death toll for Australia has risen to 35 overnight, after the death of two 86- and 85-year-old men in NSW on Sunday.
NSW Health officials have stated that there has been a drop in cases over the past week, with Australia praised for the fast actions towards the virus over recent weeks.
The NSW government has also urged young people to take the pandemic seriously, revealing more than a quarter of the state’s cases are actually under the age of 29.
In WA, Health Minister Roger Cook has stated that 50 percent of the hospitals in the state are now full due to the pandemic.
The state government is set to allocate $15 million to secure 200 more intensive care units.
Malaysian Tiger tests positive to COVID19
NEW YORK: A four-year-old Malaysian Tiger at New York Bronx’s Zoo has tested positive for the COVID19 coronavirus. Which is thought to be the first known case of an animal with the virus.
The four-year old tiger along with six other tigers and lions have fallen ill according to the US Department of Agriculture.
Researchers are currently trying to understand how the virus works within different species other than humans.
PM Johnson hospitalised
LONDON: Ten days into contracting the COVID19 coronavirus, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been admitted into a hospital overnight to undergo further tests.
Johnson has been in self quarantine in his Downing Street residence since contracting the virus.
The visit to the undisclosed hospital was not an emergency according to the PM’s office, stating that it was a ‘’precautionary step’’ and Boris Johnson remains in charge of the government.
The Good News: AFL prepared to head North.
The AFL have revealed that they are prepared to take clubs to an isolated location possibly, the Northern Territory to play some of the remaining games.
Teams closer to the area are looking highly likely to take the leap, including West Australian clubs, Fremantle and West Coast.
‘All AFL clubs will be given a pre-season competition before the possible games would go ahead,” said the AFL’s Steve Hocking.
The AFL games was set to return on May 31.
