Breaking: Third coronavirus death in WA confirmed
A passenger from the Artania cruise ship had become the third person in Western Australia to die from the deadly coronavirus.
The foreign man in his 60’s, died in Joondalup Health Campus health authorities have confirmed.
More than 40 of the Artania’s passengers with the virus have now been taken to WA hospitals for treatment.
The man’s death bring the state’s coronavirus death toll to three, and the national toll to 28.
Aust. Olympic President to take pay cut
Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) President, John Coates has publicly announced that he will be taking a 20 percent pay cut amid the COVID19 crisis.
“Last night I informed AOC CEO, Matt Carroll that commencing 1 April, I am taking a 20% cut to my consulting fees, which are determined by the AOC Culture, Remuneration and Nominations Committee.” Coates said in a statement.
“I have taken this decision as a consequence of the Covid-19 health and financial crisis confronting all sectors of Australian society and from which the AOC is not immune,” he said.
The decision comes in the wake of the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 Summer games until 2021 as the AOC granted sponsors and partners a year extension to existing contracts.
The statement goes on to say that while the AOC is in a ‘relatively strong’ financial position, the AOC and the Australian Olympic foundation isn’t immune from these ‘uncertain times’.
Inventor of cricket’s ‘Duckworth-Lewis’ dead at 78
Tony Lewis, The co-inventor of cricket’s Duckworth-Lewis (DL) system has died aged 78.
The system, invented by Lewis and mathematician Frank Duckworth was invented in 1997 to settle rain affected matches.
The DL method is an algorithmic equation that re-calculates a target for the batting team according to a team’s wickets and overs in hand.
The system was first used in a match in 1997 when Zimbabwe hosted the touring England side before being officially brought into play by the International Cricket Council in 1999.

A Northern Territory roadhouse has taken pizza deliveries to a whole new level with owner and pilot, Gary Frost taking to the skies to deliver pizza, beer and ‘loo rolls’ to surrounding cattle stations currently in lockdown.
The Dunmarra Wayside Inn is located around 300kms south of Katherine and delivers the goods once a week.
“Nobody can go anywhere, they’re limited to how they get their supplies and refreshments,” Mr Frost told the ABC”
“We make pizzas at Dunmarra roadhouse anyway, so we thought we would get all the pizzas together and see if they were interested, if we can fly them out, so they don’t have to leave the properties.” he said.
