Hundreds call for SES assistance as storms batter WA
The State Emergency Services (SES) recieved over 500 calls for assistance over night as wild weather battered Perth and the state’s south west regions.
Winds up to 130km/h left over 35,000 houses were without power overnight throughout Western Australia.
The roof of the Scarborough Amphitheatre received damage due to the strong winds, with the material being described by witnesses as torn to shreds.
Many areas in the Bunbury region in the South West were damaged last night with a spokesperson for the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) describing the area as a ‘’high priority’’.
Police investigating body found in wheelie bin
Police were called to Newman Hospital at early this morning after the body of a deceased woman was found in a wheelie bin.
The investigation is ongoing with police urging anyone with any information regarding the case please contact crime stoppers.
ICC hopeful of 20/20 World Cup going ahead
Cricket’s governing body, the International Cricket Council (ICC) are hoping that the 20/20 World Cup set to be coming up in October in Australia will go ahead with crowds.
The cricket board has said that a crowd-less tournament is practically pointless. The idea of a 15 squad tournament has come about as a possible outcome.
Cricket Australia Chief Executive, Kevin Roberts has said a decision should be made by August.
