“This is a tough day for Australia. A very tough day,” Prime Minister Scott Morrison told reporters in Canberra.
McGowan announces 14.4 million tourism rescue package
WA Premier Mark McGowan has announced a $14.4 million dollar tourism rescue package to save WA tourism post coronavirus.
Hundreds of WA tourism businesses will be able to access grants worth up to $6500 dollars and hard hit businesses will be able to access $100,000 dollars.
Mark McGowan said that he was unsure when the Kimberley and Goldfield regions would be able to open to the rest of WA but this package is aimed at keeping the region’s tourism alive.
Date set for WA AFL clubs to return
West Coast and Fremantle have been told they are allowed to return to training by May 18 with the clubs set to relocate to Queensland for the restart of the 2020 AFL season.
WA Premier Mark McGowan today announced that the teams will be allowed to open club gyms from May 18 with full contact training set to be open for players one week later.
Meanwhile Fox Footy expert commentator and AFL analyst David King believes that both West Coast and Fremantle should demand four games at home in a row to end the regular AFL season as compensation for having to move away to resume the season.
“The big discussion will be what is a home game for the West Coast Eagles right now? I know Fremantle, Adelaide and Port Adelaide are going to be in the same situation, but are you considering a game on the Gold Coast a home game?,” King said on radio today.
