2020 Vision, for Your Mental Health.
2020 Vision, for Your Mental Health.

Evie Jean Watson
23rd March 2020

It certainly feels like 2020 right now. A time, where toilet paper is scarce and self-isolation is the new to go holiday destination, and you don’t need your passport just one litre of hand sanitiser. A good playlist & a Netflix account.

How do you look after your psyche through the COVID-19 crisis? Your mental health is vital at this present time. Try to see this time as something else, even though it’s something you definitely didn’t choose to happen!

It’s important that we stay connected through the COVID-19 crisis. How do we boost that beautiful human spirit of yours. A great saying I’m always told is “check yourself, before you wreck yourself” that means, when that anxiety hits, it’s important to breathe correctly, refocus, and ground yourself.

Remember to connect with yourself and others. Think of creative ways to stay connected with others including social media, create groups chats in messenger, where you can post funny memes and share pictures And of course, the good old fashioned telephone. Calling a loved one or a friend to chat away, all you need too, and have yourself a laugh.

Have a daily routine that prioritises things you need to do and things that can keep you happy and creative, rearrange your room, do a wardrobe haul, cook a healthy meal for your household with a dress code theme, there are no limits to creativity! Write a journal, make a new playlist, create a blog. Spend your time learning guitar, read a book or binge-watch Netflix TV series or learn yoga.

Although during this time the most important thing is to go outside to get some fresh air and sunlight. Limit your exposure to news and media perhaps choose specific times of the day where you can get updates and be informed and ensure your news is from a reliable source. Don’t allow the News to consume you and give you crazy toilet paper buying anxiety.

Try your best to stay grounded and balanced, taking these measures are also known to support your immune and nervous system. I will be back to write and share more on what I’ve been doing to stay in check with good mental health through the COVID19 crisis Here are some great Mental health organisations, that you can contact,
