With all that has been happening in the world, recently many people have been left without a job or very little work, which can be very stressful! But knowing what financial assistance packages you are eligible for through Centrelink Australia can save you a lot of panic.
Support packages are available for anyone who:
- Is not able to or has no work
- Worked for a business that has closed down or has been let off
- Has had their work hours drastically reduced
- Is self-employed and has lost business
- Is needed to assist or care for someone who is affected by the coronavirus
- Has been asked to self isolate, become hospitalised or needs to care for a child
- The following are types of payments you could be eligible for if you have been affected by any of these things:
JobKeeper Payment
If you have been let off or have had your hours reduced you could be eligible for a minimum of $1,500 every fortnight for up to 6 months.
JobSeeker Payment
If you’re between the age of 22 and pensioners age and looking for work. Another way to receive this payment is if you have become sick or injured to the point that you cannot do your job or study for a period of time.
Youth Allowance
If you are under the age of 24 and a student or an apprentice or under the age of 21 and looking for work you could be eligible for this payment.
Parenting Payment
And the last payment plan is financial income for if you are the main carer for a young child.
For more information on if you are eligible for these payments or would like to apply head over to https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/individuals/subjects/affected-coronavirus-covid-19
The best thing you can do with your payments is to make sure to spend it locally and keep local businesses supported through this tough time.
